Hold onto your hats, Zelda fans: Nintendo just announced that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are getting “Switch 2 Edition” upgrades. The enhanced versions promise to deliver smoother gameplay, higher resolution, and HDR support.
According to Nintendo, the upgraded titles will boast “enhanced resolution and frame rates.” During the Switch 2 event stream, both games ran at a consistent 60fps, suggesting a significant performance boost.
Nintendo also unveiled a new “Zelda’s Notes” feature within its Nintendo Switch app for Android and iOS. This game-specific service, exclusive to the Switch 2 Editions, displays your location on the map and guides you to undiscovered shrines and koroks.
Current owners of the original games can access the upgrades either as standalone purchases or at no extra cost with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.
Finally, the Nintendo Switch Online app will be renamed “Nintendo Switch” by the end of May.
