YouTube Tests New Video Collaboration Tagging Feature

YouTube is testing a new video collaboration feature that enables creators to tag colleagues directly in their uploads, mirroring similar capabilities on TikTok and Instagram.

According to an announcement posted by a Google employee on YouTube Help, this feature allows creators to tag collaborators within the video itself, making it easier for viewers to discover and follow all participants involved in a collaborative project.

The functionality is currently being tested with a small group of trusted creators, with plans to broaden its availability more widely in the future, as reported.

A notable example of the new tagging capability is a recent video uploaded by MrBeast, where he collaborated with creators Mark Rober, Ben Azelart, and the Stoke Twins, all of whom were tagged using the feature.

The YouTube tagging system functions similarly to its counterparts on Instagram and TikTok. When a viewer clicks on the main creator’s name, a pop-up window appears, displaying all tagged collaborators, each with a subscribe button adjacent to their name.

It is anticipated that creators will not be able to tag anyone arbitrarily; instead, collaborators will likely need to accept an invitation before being officially listed as co-authors on the video, ensuring mutual consent for the collaboration tag.
