World has launched AgentKit, a new verification tool to authenticate human operators behind AI-driven shopping agents, combating potential fraud and internet abuse in the growing agentic commerce trend.

AgentKit is designed for commercial websites to confirm that a real person authorizes transactions initiated by AI agents. It relies on the World ID, a key component of Tools for Humanity’s (TFH) verification system. The most secure World ID is created through an iris scan using World’s Orb device, converting the biometric data into a unique digital code.

Users can integrate their World ID into the x402 payment system, developed by Coinbase and Cloudflare for automated transactions. Once an AI agent registers with its World ID, it informs websites via the x402 system that a verified human is backing the transaction. TFH stated that AgentKit can work alongside or replace traditional micropayment systems for websites utilizing x402.

In an interview, TFH Chief Product Officer Tiago Sada compared the process to delegating “power of attorney” to an AI agent for transaction verification. He noted that the World ID verifies the individual as a real and unique person, although websites retain the authority to block users suspected of fraudulent activity.

Currently, AgentKit is in beta for developers, with the hope of refining the tool based on feedback. To utilize AgentKit, consumers must have a verified World ID obtained from an Orb scan. This launch aligns with a broader trend, as major e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Mastercard have started adopting automated buying functionalities. Google has also introduced a similar protocol to support agentic commerce.
