WhatsApp is rolling out a significant update that allows users to personalize the app’s appearance, including the icon, theme, and accent color, as seen in the latest Android beta version, v2.26.6.1, released on February 10, 2026.

The update introduces two primary customization options for users. Firstly, users can choose from 14 new app icons, featuring distinctive designs such as Aurora, Fluffy, Galaxy, Clay, Sparkle, and Neon, in addition to seven monochromatic icons available in various colors including brown, green, purple, orange, blue, pink, and monochrome. Users also have the option to revert to the classic icon, which received a refresh years ago.

Secondly, users can alter the app’s branding color, a feature that initially debuted in an iOS beta and is now being extended to Android. A total of 19 colors are available for selection, including default green, royal blue, violet, navy blue, light purple, dark gray, coral, dark olive green, teal, burgundy, brown, beige, seafoam green, yellow, olive green, pink, red, orange, and golden yellow.

These customization features are part of WhatsApp’s upcoming premium plan, which will be available through a monthly subscription. Although the subscription cost has not been disclosed, it is expected to vary by country. It’s worth noting that the premium plan is optional and is designed to provide an enhanced user experience. Importantly, private messaging and all core features will remain free for every user.
