vivo is set to launch its latest foldable smartphone, the X Fold5, a successor to the X Fold3, which was released in March of the previous year, with significant improvements in design.

The company has recently released a video demonstrating that the upcoming X Fold5 will be lighter than the X Fold3, weighing in at 219g. A vivo brand official also shared images showcasing the X Fold5 alongside the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max for a direct comparison of thickness, highlighting its sleek profile.

The images shared by the brand official present the vivo X Fold5 in both its unfolded and folded states. When unfolded, the X Fold5 appears noticeably thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Even when folded, the X Fold5 is only slightly thicker than the Apple device, which has a thickness of 8.3mm. In comparison, the folded X Fold3 measured 10.2mm thick, indicating that the vivo X Fold5 is not only lighter but also significantly thinner than its predecessor.

Although vivo has not yet officially announced the launch date for the X Fold5, rumors suggest it will be unveiled on July 10. There is also speculation about the potential unveiling of the vivo X200 FE alongside the foldable device on the same date.

Leaked specifications for the vivo X Fold5 suggest it will be a powerful and well-equipped device. It is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The battery is expected to have a capacity of 6,000 mAh, supporting 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging.

The display details of the X Fold5 indicate that it will feature an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate and “2K+” resolution. The outer display is expected to measure 6.53 inches diagonally, also with a 120Hz refresh rate.

In terms of optics, the X Fold5 is anticipated to feature a total of five cameras. This includes two 32MP selfie cameras, one on each screen. The rear is expected to have a triple-camera setup comprising three 50MP sensors: a primary camera, an ultrawide camera, and a periscope telephoto lens. The primary camera is rumored to use the Sony IMX921 sensor, while the periscope telephoto lens, offering 3x optical zoom, is expected to utilize the Sony IMX882 sensor. The ultrawide camera is rumored to include autofocus capabilities for macro photography.
