Valve has reaffirmed its commitment to launching the Steam Machine in 2026, following a blog post that sparked speculation about a potential delay. The company has also confirmed that the Steam Frame wireless VR headset and Steam Controller will arrive in 2026.
This clarification addresses market uncertainty regarding the hardware’s release timeline amid ongoing supply chain constraints. The confirmation provides a fixed target for consumers and industry analysts tracking the gaming hardware sector. The delay of a Q1 launch indicates potential impacts on the company’s initial sales projections for the year.
In a Friday blog post, Valve initially stated, “we hope to ship in 2026,” which raised concerns about a potential delay. Valve PR representative Kaci Aitchison Boyle later told The Verge, “Nothing has actually changed on our end.” The blog post was subsequently updated to confirm a 2026 arrival for the hardware.
The ongoing RAM shortage, driven by AI data center demand, is affecting hardware makers, including Valve. Valve has acknowledged that memory supply chain restrictions are impacting Steam Deck OLED stock levels. The Steam Machine is confirmed to have 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
Valve stated that more updates will be shared as plans are finalized. The company had indicated last month a target for a first-half-of-year launch before revising its schedule. Pricing for the Steam Machine remains to be confirmed.
