Unity Technologies will soon provide official support for the Nintendo Switch 2 within the Unity 6 game engine, targeting the platform’s launch.
Approved Nintendo developers can anticipate building, porting, optimizing, and deploying projects for the Switch 2 using Unity’s tools and technologies.
The platform will include the following for Switch 2 development:
- Rendering and performance optimization: Scale game graphical fidelity using Universal Render Pipeline (URP), Spatial-Temporal Post-Processing (STP), and GPU Resident Drawer to maximize performance on the Nintendo Switch 2.
- End-to-end multiplayer solutions: Improvements to multiplayer capabilities, expanding existing Nintendo Switch support, will launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
- Enhanced developer documentation: Unity’s developer documentation for Nintendo Switch 2 will simplify game building and optimization on the platform.
Unity aims to facilitate easier porting of existing Switch titles to the Switch 2. Developers seeking to work on Switch 2 development within Unity must first obtain approval from Nintendo.
