TikTok is rolling out new features to boost user interaction and content sharing, introducing Shared Feed, Shared Collections, and themed holiday cards to enhance the app’s social experience.
The new Shared Feed feature enables users to collectively discover content by sharing a curated feed of 15 daily videos through direct messaging, described by the company as a “new way to discover content together.” Users can invite others to join a Shared Feed chat, and participants have the flexibility to exit at any time. A dedicated dashboard allows viewers to access their Shared Like history and other relevant metrics. The global rollout of this feature is expected to take place over the coming months.
In a similar vein, Shared Collections is designed for saved content, allowing users to collect, organize, and share groups of videos. The platform suggests using this tool for sharing reading lists, local restaurant recommendations, and product selections. To create a Shared Collection, users can save a video, form a collection, and dispatch the list via direct message. However, both users must follow each other to access these shared lists. This feature is currently available globally for users aged 16 and above.
In addition to these new features, TikTok is also releasing themed holiday cards for direct messaging, set to be available globally later this month.
