Tesla has launched its first full V4 Supercharger station in Redwood City, California, marking a significant upgrade to the company’s charging infrastructure with a charging capacity of 500 kW per stall.

The 500 kW power output can be fully utilized by the Tesla Cybertruck, which is the only vehicle in Tesla’s current lineup with an 800-volt architecture. This capability enables the Cybertruck, equipped with a 123 kWh battery pack, to charge from 10% to 80% state of charge in under 30 minutes.

The V4 system also introduces a new cabinet design, featuring three times the power density of its predecessors and supporting twice the number of charging stalls per cabinet. These hardware enhancements are designed to increase station throughput and efficiency while lowering deployment costs and installation times for new Supercharger locations.

While the V4 system’s high charging rates may not significantly benefit most existing Tesla models, which typically charge at average speeds of 80 kW to 100 kW, it is part of Tesla’s broader strategy to scale its Supercharger network and enhance performance for future electric vehicle models.
