Bethesda’s highly anticipated game, Starfield, is rumored to launch on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026, according to a leak from ‘Billbil-kun’ on Dealabs.
The potential release date signifies a substantial change for the game, initially launched as an exclusive title for Xbox and PC in 2023. This development is in line with Microsoft’s recent strategy of expanding its games to multiple platforms, potentially introducing Starfield to a new audience on the PlayStation console.
According to the leak, the PS5 version of Starfield is planned for release in two editions: Standard and Premium. The Standard Edition is reportedly priced at £44.99 or €49.99, while the Premium Edition will cost £59.99 or €69.99. However, the specific contents of these editions remain undisclosed.
Unlike the original PC and Xbox releases, the PS5 version of Starfield will not offer an early access period for preorders, as stated by the leaker. Preorders for the game are expected to open between March 17 and March 18, 2026.
It’s worth noting that the leaker’s source has a history of variable reliability, and it’s unclear whether these dates will align with an official announcement from Bethesda or Microsoft.
Starfield was initially released in 2023 and has since received several updates, including the Shattered Space expansion. A second major expansion, titled Starborn, is also rumored to be released this year, further enriching the game’s content.
A significant update for Starfield is expected to launch alongside the PS5 version, focusing on enhancing space flight loading screens and improving the Creation Engine, according to the leak.
The rumor of a PS5 release has been ongoing, and there have also been speculations about a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Former Xbox head Phil Spencer had previously not ruled out the possibility of Starfield coming to PlayStation, leaving the door open for such developments.
