Spotify has rolled out a new feature allowing users to disable the “Create” button from the app’s main navigation bar, a change made in response to user feedback.
The “Create” button, which was relocated months ago from the Library tab to a prominent position on the bottom bar, provided quick access to features such as creating new playlists, collaborative playlists, “Blend” mixes, AI playlists, or starting a “Jam” session. Despite offering handy shortcuts, many users felt that these functions did not warrant a dedicated navigation bar slot.
As of July 31, Spotify implemented a community-suggested solution: the ability to hide the button entirely. This change has now rolled out to users on both Android and iOS platforms. To disable the “Create” button, users need to navigate within the app settings by tapping the profile picture at the top, selecting “Settings and privacy”, and then toggling off the “Create button” option under “Content and display”.
Spotify emphasizes that “This setting is device-specific, so changes won’t sync across your other devices.” As a result, users must manually turn off the button on each device where they use the Spotify app, including when setting up new hardware.
