Sony has unveiled the Ult Field 3, a new mid-sized portable Bluetooth speaker, expanding its Ult Power Sound Series and delivering a blend of portability, strong sound, and advanced features aimed at music lovers and frequent entertainers.

This latest addition builds on Sony’s Ult Power Sound Series, which debuted the previous year. In 2025, Sony introduced two new speakers: the Ult Field 3, a mid-sized model designed for versatility and convenience, and the larger Ult Field 5 for those seeking even more robust sound. The company continues its focus on premium audio experiences, offering consumers fresh choices for outdoor activities, parties, and everyday listening.

The Ult Field 3 stands as a substantial upgrade from last year’s compact Ult Field 1. With a rectangular build, it boasts over double the physical size and battery capacity of its predecessor. The battery is rated for an impressive 24 hours, supporting long events, outdoor excursions, or all-day use without the need to recharge. This endurance makes it particularly appealing for regular hosts and music enthusiasts who value uninterrupted playback during gatherings or personal downtime.

Portability is central to the Ult Field 3’s design. Unlike the rope handle featured on the Ult Field 1, Sony has equipped the new model with a long, durable strap. This thoughtful enhancement allows users to sling the speaker over their shoulder, making it easy to carry on boat rides, pool days, or cabin getaways. The speaker is available in three distinct colorways: Black, Forest Gray, and White, catering to a range of personal styles.

Sound performance is where the Ult Field 3 truly excels. The speaker delivers high-quality audio across a range of genres, but especially shines when playing bass-heavy music such as R&B, pop, and rap. This is enabled by Sony’s unique “Ult” button, which, when pressed, boosts bass response and enhances the overall depth and vibrancy of the sound. Listeners can enjoy crisp mids and powerful sub-bass, creating a more immersive listening experience whether at a party or during a quiet evening at home.

An innovative new feature, “Party Connect,” debuts in the latest Ult lineup. This technology lets users wirelessly sync multiple Ult Field speakers, distributing synchronized audio across multiple rooms or outdoor areas. By simply turning on the speaker and pressing the Party Connect button, users can create an expansive, connected sound environment, perfect for large gatherings or multi-room setups.

For those who prefer to fine-tune their audio, the Sony Sound Connect app provides additional customization. It includes a seven-band equalizer, allowing users to precisely adjust their sound profile to suit different genres or personal preferences, adding another layer of control to the speaker experience.

During testing, the Ult Field 3 demonstrated strong performance in both intimate and larger spaces. The speaker filled an apartment with sound that extended beyond a single room, maintaining clarity and presence even at low volumes. At maximum volume, it produced enough output to drown out nearby conversations, underscoring its capability for both background ambiance and energetic social settings.

At a retail price of $200, the Ult Field 3 positions itself as a competitive option among mid-sized premium speakers. Its combination of extended battery life, robust sound quality, bass-boosting features, and convenient portability make it well-suited for those who frequently entertain or value high-quality music in a portable form.

For buyers mindful of budget, alternatives like the Beats Pill, which is currently on sale for $50, are suggested. Additionally, Sony’s speakers, including the previous Ult Field 1, have historically seen discounts within months of release, particularly during events such as Amazon Prime Day or Cyber Week, making it worthwhile for some consumers to wait for potential price drops.
