Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, offering flagship-level performance and features without the premium price tag. While it sticks with the older 4nm process and Kryo CPU architecture, Qualcomm promises up to a 49 percent performance boost over the previous generation.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 utilizes a 4nm lithography, likely TSMC’s N4P node, potentially impacting efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It features a CPU cluster in a ‘1+3+2+2’ configuration, with the fastest core clocked at 3.20GHz and performance cores at 3.00GHz.

Qualcomm claims a 49 percent graphics performance improvement over the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. CPU performance is also enhanced, with speeds up to 31 percent faster and a 39 percent improvement in power efficiency.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 includes a 5G modem reaching downlink speeds of 4.2Gbps, but lacks mmWave band support. Other supported features are Bluetooth 6.0, UFS 4.0, LPDDR5X RAM at 4,800MHz, and Wi-Fi 7.

On-device AI capabilities are boosted with a new NPU, delivering up to 44 percent better performance. The image signal processor (ISP) supports single camera sensors up to 320MP, 8K HDR video playback at 60FPS, and 4K HDR video capture at 60FPS.
