Mega Crit has announced that Slay the Spire 2 will launch in early access on Steam on March 5, 2026, accompanied by a teaser trailer that introduces the sequel to the popular 2019 roguelike deckbuilder.
The studio outlined specific goals for the early access period, stating that “Slay the Spire requires a lot of player feedback so we can balance content, add quality of life features, and make sure the game runs without issues.” The developers noted that early access will allow them to test experimental features, try exotic designs, and identify niche problems to ensure the game is headed in the right direction. The early access phase is expected to last one to two years, or until the game “feels great.”
A new co-op mode will be introduced in the sequel, allowing up to four players to team up. This mode will feature exclusive multiplayer cards and team-wide synergies. Slay the Spire 2 will include returning characters from the original game as well as new ones. The original Slay the Spire is currently available on iOS, including Apple Arcade, consoles, and PC.
