Samsung has introduced a set of new fingerprint unlock animations with the update to the Good Lock customization module, as part of the upcoming software enhancements.
The update to the LockStar module, which is targeted at devices that will operate on the forthcoming One UI 8, brings multiple new effects to the fingerprint unlock process. Among these effects are a ripple akin to that caused by a water droplet, a ghost emoji that shatters into star emojis upon successful authentication, and a starburst explosion. These effects are designed to enhance the interaction between the device and its owner, adding a playful touch to what is typically a mundane action.
According to a post on X by PhoneArt, also known as UniverseIce, the LockStar update for One UI 8 has added “four fingerprint unlocking effects,” which users can access by updating the module. The post garnered considerable interest, as indicated by the enthusiastic tone of the message, which described the release as “Epic.”
These new effects are part of a broader push towards greater personalization on the Galaxy series, particularly with the rollout of One UI 8, and are reportedly well-received by those testing the update on the latest Galaxy devices, such as the S25. The new animations are, for now, exclusive to devices running One UI 8. It has been observed that manually installing the updated module on phones with an earlier software version, like One UI 7, results in the new effects being non-operational.
