Samsung is gearing up to launch its first mixed-reality headset, codenamed Project Moohan, after recently unveiling a cutting-edge OLEDoS panel designed for such devices at an exhibition.

OLEDoS panels, which use a silicon substrate instead of traditional glass or plastic, are capable of achieving higher brightness, resolution, and pixel density, making them ideal for small screens. Samsung’s showcased panel incorporates a Micro Lens Array, further enhancing its brightness and viewing angles. The demonstrated 1.3-inch panel boasts an impressive brightness of 20,000 nits.

It is unclear whether this particular panel will be used in Samsung’s upcoming XR headset. The company may instead opt for its flagship OLEDoS panel, revealed last month, which features a pixel density of 5,000 ppi, a peak brightness of 15,000 nits, and a 120Hz variable refresh rate.
