Samsung has announced a significant policy change that will impact users with inactive accounts, starting July 31st, 2025, the company will begin deleting accounts that have remained inactive for 24 months.

An account is considered inactive if it has not been logged into or used for a continuous period of two years. Samsung states that the primary motivation behind this policy is to safeguard the data associated with dormant accounts, ensuring their protection. This move is aimed at enhancing the security of user data.

This new inactive account policy means that if a Samsung account meets the 24-month inactivity criteria, it will be permanently deleted. Consequently, once an account is deleted, access will be restricted, and all data linked to that specific account will also be removed. Users are strongly advised that deleted accounts and their corresponding data cannot be restored.

To prevent an account from being considered inactive and subsequently deleted, users must log into the account or utilize a Samsung service or product while logged into the account before the July 31st, 2025 deadline. This can be achieved by simply logging in or using any Samsung service associated with the account.

Samsung intends to notify users with accounts identified as inactive via the email address associated with those accounts. This serves as a final opportunity for users to take action and retain their accounts by demonstrating activity. By taking this step, users can ensure that their accounts and associated data are preserved.
