Samsung Electronics is set to revolutionize its global manufacturing network by converting it into autonomous, AI-powered facilities by 2030, as announced in a February 27 press release.

The company’s initiative represents a significant commitment to industrial automation, leveraging “agentic AI” for autonomous decision-making across the manufacturing value chain, including quality control, production optimization, and logistics. This strategic move extends Samsung’s consumer AI capabilities to the factory floor, marking a major technological advancement.

To achieve this transformation, Samsung plans to deploy specialized robots, including humanoids and task-specific models, for line management, material transport, and precision assembly. Additionally, the company will utilize environmental safety robots integrated with digital twins to monitor hazardous conditions, further enhancing the safety and efficiency of its manufacturing processes.

This factory transformation builds upon an existing collaboration with Nvidia, announced in October 2025, to deploy over 50,000 GPUs. Samsung is utilizing Nvidia’s Jetson Thor platform to advance real-time AI reasoning in its robotics systems, underscoring the significance of this partnership in driving innovation.

According to YoungSoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Technology Research at Samsung Electronics, “The next phase of manufacturing innovation lies in building autonomous environments where AI truly understands operational contexts in real time and independently executes optimal decisions.” This statement highlights Samsung’s vision for the future of manufacturing.

Samsung will showcase its industrial AI strategy at Mobile World Congress 2026, running March 2-5 in Barcelona. At the accompanying Samsung Mobile Business Summit, the company will present a governance framework for responsible AI expansion, demonstrating its commitment to ethical AI practices.
