Samsung Rolls Out Multi-Voice Recognition to Smart Fridges

Samsung is introducing multi-voice recognition to its latest smart fridges, powered by its Bixby assistant, allowing the appliance to display personalized information on its built-in screen based on the speaker’s identity.

The integration enables users to access personal calendars or photo galleries using voice commands, and they can also instruct the fridge to trigger an alarm on their phone, which can be helpful in locating a misplaced device. Furthermore, the update includes a feature that automatically adjusts the fridge screen’s display mode, such as color inversion or grayscale, to match the accessibility settings on the user’s phone. This could be particularly beneficial for individuals with vision impairments, as it provides a more tailored and accessible experience.

Although the display mode adjustments occur automatically, users may still need to verbally request Bixby to switch accounts. In addition to voice commands and tapping the Bixby icon, Samsung is introducing a new method for activating Bixby on its fridges: a double-tap gesture on the display when the screen is off.
