Samsung is set to integrate Perplexity as an AI agent into its Galaxy AI platform for the upcoming S26 flagship series, marking an expansion in support for multiple AI agents.
The integration will enable Perplexity’s agent to work seamlessly with various Samsung applications, including Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. Additionally, support for some third-party applications is planned, although specific apps have not been identified yet. More details on this integration are anticipated at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event.
The Perplexity agent will be activated using the wake phrase “Hey Plex” and can also be launched via quick-access physical controls. According to Won-Joon Choi, Samsung’s President, COO, and Head of the R&D Office for the Mobile eXperience Business, Galaxy AI acts as an “orchestrator” that combines different AI forms into a single experience, providing users with choice and flexibility.
This move follows a previous partnership between Samsung and Perplexity last year, where Perplexity’s AI search engine was integrated into Samsung TVs. However, Perplexity is currently facing allegations related to content scraping and copyright infringement, with Merriam-Webster and Encyclopedia Britannica filing a lawsuit against the company in September.
