Samsung is set to launch its next-generation foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, this summer, with leaks already revealing potential hardware upgrades and new AI-powered features.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to feature a significant camera upgrade, including a new 200MP sensor, a new visual engine, and support for logarithmic video recording, according to a post on X by PandaFlash. While details on the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s camera system are scarce, the leak suggests “improved photo quality” can be expected.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to sport a larger cover screen, aligning with previous information from Ross Young, who indicated the cover screen could measure around 4 inches, an increase from the Galaxy Z Flip 6’s 3.6-inch display. Users can also anticipate visually appealing wallpapers with transition animations when unlocking the device.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected to be thinner, lighter, and more durable than their predecessors. Samsung hinted at this in a blog post earlier in June, stating that the next Galaxy Z devices would be their thinnest and lightest yet. An earlier leak from IceUniverse in May suggested the Z Fold 7 could be as thin as 8.9mm when folded and 3.9mm when unfolded.

Battery specifications have also surfaced, with IceUniverse predicting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will retain the same 4,400 mAh battery as its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to receive a boost to 4,300 mAh.

AI integration will be a key focus for the new foldables, with PandaFlash suggesting a significant portion of Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event will be dedicated to Google Gemini and Gemini Live, which launched on Android devices in April. The company is also expected to highlight new Galaxy AI features, Samsung XR, and Samsung’s Now Brief feature.

Further AI enhancements could include updates to Samsung’s ProGen Visual Engine, a suite of AI-powered photo and video tools that enhance features like nighttime mode, telezoom, and blur reduction. Galaxy AI is also expected to power new Generative Edit photo features.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are anticipated to be the first Samsung devices to ship with Android 16 and One UI 8. While One UI 8 is not yet available on other devices, users can currently sample the One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series.

As for the release date, an early July launch is anticipated, with Samsung having launched its previous generation of foldables on July 10 last year, suggesting a similar timeframe for this year’s release.
