Samsung Galaxy Glasses to Launch on September 29

Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch Galaxy Glasses, an audio-focused, AI-powered smart glasses line aimed at competing with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, following over two and a half years of collaboration with Google and Qualcomm on Android XR wearables.

While Project Moohan, an XR headset expected to rival Apple’s Vision Pro before the end of 2025, has received significant attention, details about Galaxy Glasses have been limited. Recent statements from Samsung executives and hints during events suggest the smart glasses could be unveiled soon. Korean outlets, including ZDNET, report that Samsung may reveal the glasses at a Samsung Unpacked event in Korea on September 29. Google previously referenced collaborative work on “Headsets and Glasses” during its May I/O event, fueling further speculation.

Samsung Executive Vice President Jay Kim concluded the September 4 Galaxy Event, where the S25 FE phone and Galaxy Tab S11 tablets were announced, with a reference to an unspecified new device. Kim highlighted that Samsung is “leading the way in mobile AI” and “creating entirely new products,” suggesting a device beyond smartphones or XR headsets. He described it as a product that “understands context and supports you seamlessly in the background, enhancing your everyday life,” consistent with the expected function of smart glasses.

Galaxy AI is currently active on over 200 million Samsung devices worldwide, with plans to double that number this year. Kim indicated that this growth will depend not only on sales of the $649 mid-range phones but also on new products and experiences, likely referencing the potential Galaxy Glasses.

The rumored Galaxy Glasses could directly challenge Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. While Meta’s Ray-Bans rely on Llama AI models, a Samsung-Google collaboration could integrate Google Gemini AI, potentially offering more powerful and versatile capabilities. Samsung’s expertise in miniaturization and Google’s AI support position the partnership to deliver a competitive smart glasses experience.

Although not officially confirmed, the September 29 Samsung Unpacked event has become the focal point for speculation regarding the Galaxy Glasses launch. Details on pricing, features, and availability remain unclear, but the combination of Samsung’s hardware and Google’s AI is expected to make the glasses a massive entry in the wearable market.
