Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G, the anticipated successor to the top-selling Android phone of Q1 2025, the Galaxy A16 5G, has surfaced in digital renders, offering a glimpse into its design and potential specifications.

The leaked renders, provided by Android Headlines, indicate that the Galaxy A17 5G will feature a performance upgrade, incorporating the Samsung Exynos 1380 chipset, previously seen in the Galaxy A54. While specific RAM and storage configurations are yet to be fully confirmed, it is expected to offer up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, aligning with its predecessor. A Geekbench listing has already corroborated a 6GB RAM option, though a 4GB base variant remains a possibility.

In terms of physical design, the Galaxy A17 5G largely maintains the dimensions and overall aesthetic of the previous model. It retains the distinctive “Key Island” design element, which houses the power button (integrated with a fingerprint scanner) and volume controls on the side. The display is expected to be the same 6.7-inch 90Hz AMOLED panel with a U-shaped notch and a noticeable bottom bezel.

A notable design evolution appears on the device’s rear, where an island-shaped camera assembly replaces the previous setup. This new design mirrors that of the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Edge and is rumored for the Galaxy S26 series, suggesting it could become a recurring design motif across Samsung’s smartphone portfolio through the first half of 2026, excluding the Ultra line. The leaked images showcase the Galaxy A17 5G in at least two color options: a light gray/silver and a darker shade of gray.

Regarding its camera capabilities, Android Headlines suggests that the Galaxy A17 5G will likely reuse the same camera setup as its predecessor. This includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. Powering the device will be an unchanged 5,000mAh battery, supporting charging speeds of up to 25W.

While an official launch timeline for the Galaxy A17 5G has not been confirmed, it is speculated to follow the Galaxy A16 5G’s release schedule, potentially launching in October. Furthermore, Samsung may also introduce an LTE-only variant of the phone, featuring a less powerful chipset and lacking 5G connectivity.
