Rode has released a firmware update for its Wireless Pro and Wireless Go third-gen microphones, introducing Direct Connect, a feature that enables pairing the mics to iPhones and iPads via Bluetooth without a receiver.
The feature, already available on the Wireless Micro, now works with these higher-end models, allowing users to leverage the Rode Capture app to get started. According to Rode, Direct Connect does not compromise the broadcast-quality audio these systems are known for.
Users can still record from two transmitters in merged mode, which blends audio into a single stereo track, or split mode, which keeps recordings on separate channels for more flexibility in post-production. This update streamlines the setup process for creators, eliminating the need for a receiver.
By providing new features through updates rather than requiring new hardware, Rode is offering a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution for its users. This approach not only benefits the consumer’s wallet but also contributes to reducing electronic waste.
