Roblox is rolling out enhanced parental controls, letting parents police who their kids interact with and what games they play, according to a blog post by chief safety officer Matt Kaufman.
These updates expand on changes made last year, which included a special account for parents to remotely manage their child’s platform use, a move that followed reports of Roblox’s failures in child protection.
Parents with linked accounts can now block and report specific individuals on their child’s friend list, according to Roblox. Children under 13 cannot unblock these users but can request parental permission to do so, according to Kaufman.
The new controls also enable parents to block their children from accessing specific experiences and games. Previously, parents could only restrict access based on content maturity levels. Similar to blocked friends, children under 13 need parental overrides to access blocked content though they can put in a request to access them.
Parents can now also view the 20 experiences their children have spent the most time on over the past week; Kaufman noted in his statement.
