If you’ve logged into Google Chrome with your email, a user profile is automatically created to store your browsing history, bookmarks, and passwords. To fully remove this data, you’ll need to sign out of Google Chrome and delete your profile. This guide will walk you through the process on your computer, Android, iPhone, or iPad.

Before you start, ensure you have access to your device (computer, Android, iPhone, or iPad) where Google Chrome is installed.

Follow these detailed steps to sign out of your Google Chrome account and manage your profile data across different devices.

To remove an account from Google Chrome using a PC or Mac, open Google Chrome on your computer. You can find its red, green, yellow, and blue sphere icon in the Start menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac). Click your profile photo, located in the top-right corner of Chrome. If you haven’t selected a profile photo, a round placeholder icon will appear. A menu will expand.

Click Sign out. This option is usually below “Manage Google Account.” If you don’t see “Sign out,” you likely have Sync services enabled. Tap Sync is on, then Turn off, and finally Turn off again. This will disable Sync and sign you out of your Google account.

After signing out, your profile, along with its browsing history, passwords, and bookmarks, remains on the device. To remove this data, click the profile icon in the top-right corner, click the cog icon next to “Other profiles,” click the three dots (⋮) next to the profile you wish to delete, and click Delete, then Delete again to confirm and clear the user’s profile and data.

To remove an account from Google Chrome using an Android device, open the Google Chrome app on your Android device. It’s the icon resembling a red, green, and yellow wheel with a blue dot in the middle. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen. This will take you to your Settings.

Tap your account name, found at the top of the Settings menu. If Sync is on, tap Sync, then Sign Out and Turn Off Sync. You’ll also see an option to check the box next to “Also clear your Chrome data from this device” before tapping Continue.

Tap Sign out. This is a red button located below your email address. Then, tap Clear Data or Keep Data. Tap Clear Data if you want to remove your Chrome data (browsing history, bookmarks, etc.) from the device, or tap Keep Data if you want to retain this information on your device.

Now that you’ve successfully signed out of Google Chrome and managed your profile data, consider your next steps. If you signed out to switch accounts, you can now easily sign in with a different Google account to personalize your browsing experience.

If you signed out to clear your data for privacy reasons, remember to regularly review your browser settings and privacy options. Keeping your browser clean and managing your synced data can significantly enhance your online security and browsing performance.
