Pinterest has unveiled new AI-powered upgrades to its boards, aiming to enhance personalization for users, as announced on Monday. The updates include an AI-driven collage feature called “Styled for You.”
This feature enables users to combine clothing and accessories from their saved fashion Pins to create outfits. Users can tap an item in the collage and swipe through AI-recommended saved Pins for mixing and matching, tailoring results to individual style preferences.
The company is also testing “Boards Made for You,” which generates personalized boards using a combination of editorial input and AI suggestions. These boards highlight trending styles, provide weekly outfit inspiration, and include shoppable content. They will appear in users’ home feeds and inboxes.
Pinterest is initially experimenting with these AI features in the U.S. and Canada, with a broader rollout scheduled over the next few months. The initiative seeks to transform boards from basic organizational tools into personalized platforms for exploring, shopping, and discovering outfit ideas.
This effort supports the company’s objective to establish itself as an “AI‑enabled shopping assistant,” a vision outlined by the CEO during Pinterest’s second-quarter earnings call. Pinterest has previously incorporated AI into its recommendations and visual search functionalities.
At the same time, the platform is addressing concerns about AI-generated content. In April, Pinterest revealed plans to label AI-generated and AI-modified images. It also added controls allowing users to decrease the visibility of AI-generated Pins in their feeds.
Alongside these AI enhancements, Pinterest will introduce new tabs that organize Pins into categories. These tabs can be accessed by viewing boards from user profiles. The categorization updates are expected to launch globally in the coming months.
