Oppo has joined the Quick Share initiative, enabling its devices to interoperate directly with Apple’s AirDrop feature for seamless file transfers between Android and iOS devices.
This significant integration allows Oppo and Apple device users to share files across different platforms without the need for proprietary applications, thereby enhancing connectivity between the two distinct ecosystems. By doing so, it bridges the gap between Android and iOS, making file sharing more convenient and accessible.
The Find X9 and Find X9 Pro smartphones are set to receive a software update later this month, which will enable the Quick Share interconnection, allowing users to leverage this new feature. Additionally, the upcoming Find X9 Ultra will also support this functionality, ensuring that newer devices are equipped with this enhanced capability from the outset.
According to Oppo, users will be able to “conveniently and securely transfer files between Oppo smartphones and iOS, iPadOS and macOS devices, improving cross-platform interoperability.” This development is expected to simplify the process of sharing files between devices running on different operating systems.
Oppo confirmed that this feature was developed in collaboration with Google and MediaTek, highlighting the industry’s move towards greater interoperability. Previously, Oppo relied on its O+Connect application for file sharing with iPhones, a process that required the installation of a third-party app on the iOS device, making the new Quick Share integration a more streamlined and user-friendly alternative.
