The OnePlus 15 smartphone is set to feature a display with a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, marking a change from its predecessors, which had QHD+ (2K) screens and lower refresh rates.
The device’s display represents a trade-off between resolution and refresh rate, with OnePlus citing the current technological limitation of not being able to implement a QHD+ display that also operates at 165Hz. According to OnePlus, this was a key factor in the decision to opt for a 1.5K resolution, a downgrade from the QHD+ (2K) screens found in previous flagships like the OnePlus 13, in favor of a higher refresh rate. The OnePlus 13 had a 120Hz panel, and the increase to 165Hz on the OnePlus 15 is seen as a significant improvement.
In addition to its display upgrades, the OnePlus 15 is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The device is also anticipated to come with a large battery that supports fast charging and a triple-camera system, further enhancing its appeal as a flagship model.
