The 98th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars 2026, honored outstanding achievements in cinema from 2025, with “One Battle After Another” emerging as the leading award recipient.
“One Battle After Another” received six awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn. The film’s success was further highlighted by its wins in categories such as Best Casting for Cassandra Kulukundis, Best Film Editing for Andy Jurgensen, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson.
“Sinners,” which had garnered 16 nominations, secured four Oscars, including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Best Original Score for Ludwig Goransson, and Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler. Notably, Arkapaw became the first woman to win in the Cinematography category, marking a significant milestone.
“Frankenstein” earned three awards from its nine nominations, taking home Oscars for Achievement in Production Design, with Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau, Costume Design for Kate Hawley, and Makeup and Hairstyling for Mike Hill, Jordan Samuel, and Cliona Furey.
The ceremony also featured several other notable wins. “Golden” from “KPop Demon Hunters” won Best Original Song, making it the first KPop song to achieve this distinction. Additionally, “KPop Demon Hunters” took home the award for Best Animated Feature Film. The ceremony saw a tie in the Best Live-Action Short Film category between “The Singers” and “Two People Exchanging Saliva,” marking the first tie since 2013.
