Nvidia announced a $2 billion strategic investment in Marvell Technology to enhance their AI partnership. The investment will integrate Marvell into Nvidia’s AI ecosystem using the NVLink Fusion platform and expand collaboration into silicon photonics and telecommunications.

This partnership aims to improve AI data center infrastructure and telecommunications networks. The agreement allows Marvell to supply custom XPUs and scale-up networking that is compatible with NVLink Fusion. Nvidia will provide essential technologies, including the Vera CPU, ConnectX NICs, BlueField DPUs, and NVLink interconnect.

Marvell shares rose approximately 12% in premarket trading following the announcement, while Nvidia shares increased by about 1.5%. The companies will also collaborate on silicon photonics technology, critical for high-speed, energy-efficient data transmission in AI workloads and cloud computing systems.

Additionally, the partnership extends into telecommunications, where both companies will work to transform telecom networks into AI infrastructure using Nvidia’s Aerial AI-RAN platform for 5G and 6G services. Nvidia has previously engaged with various carriers, including T-Mobile and SoftBank, for AI-RAN trials.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated the collaboration will assist customers in developing specialized AI compute systems at scale. Marvell CEO Matt Murphy characterized the NVLink Fusion partnership as providing a “flexible, high-performance foundation for advanced AI infrastructure,” essential for supporting next-generation AI models.

The investment is part of Nvidia’s broader strategy to secure its AI supply chain. Earlier in March, Nvidia also invested $2 billion each in photonics firms Lumentum and Coherent, alongside a $2 billion investment in AI cloud provider Nebius Group.

Marvell reported record revenue of $8.195 billion for fiscal 2026, a 42% increase year-over-year, driven largely by demand for AI technologies. Recent acquisitions of Celestial AI and XConn Technologies have further positioned Marvell in AI data center connectivity.
