Nintendo’s Switch 2 will feature a custom NVIDIA processor with “10x the graphics performance” of the original Switch, according to NVIDIA.
NVIDIA detailed the new hardware in a blog post, noting the custom processor includes an Nvidia GPU with dedicated RT Cores and Tensor Cores to enhance visuals and AI capabilities.
According to NVIDIA, the new RT Cores will bring real-time ray tracing and deliver lifelike lighting, reflections, and shadows for more immersive worlds.
NVIDIA also states Tensor Cores power AI-driven features such as Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), boosting resolution for sharper details without sacrificing image quality. Tensor Cores also enable AI-powered face tracking and background removal in video chat use cases, enhancing social gaming and streaming.
Nvidia confirms the new console enables up to 4K gaming in TV mode and supports up to 120 frames per second at 1080p in handheld mode, including HDR support and AI upscaling to sharpen visuals and smooth gameplay.
