Neuralink is set to launch a US clinical trial in October to develop technology that translates thoughts into text, marking a significant step in assisting individuals with speech impairments.

The study aims to enable people with speech impairments to communicate through thought, a development that could greatly improve their quality of life. According to the company, it already has five other clinical trials ongoing worldwide, demonstrating its commitment to advancing this technology. In the future, Neuralink envisions a scenario where not only individuals with speech impairments but also healthy individuals can get implants to communicate with AI models at the speed of thought.

However, concerns have been raised about the potential negative impacts of consumer brain implants and the influence of Elon Musk’s ideas on the technology’s development, highlighting the need for careful consideration and regulation of this rapidly evolving field.
