Netflix is developing a feature film based on the popular board game Ticket to Ride, marking the game’s first on-screen adaptation.
The film will be written by Ben Mekler and Chris Amick, with Alan R. Moon, the creator of Ticket to Ride, serving as an executive producer. Ticket to Ride is a train-themed, turn-based strategy and route-building game that was first released over 20 years ago. Since its release, the game has achieved significant success, shipping more than 20 million copies and being translated into over 30 languages. Additionally, it has received a video game adaptation.
This project is part of Netflix’s continued interest in adapting popular board games into entertainment content. It is the second intellectual property from Asmodee that Netflix has acquired rights to, following an announcement last year regarding Catan. Furthermore, in early 2025, Netflix signed a deal with Hasbro to adapt Monopoly into a TV game show, highlighting the platform’s ongoing efforts to bring board games to the screen.
