Moises, Apple’s 2024 iPad App of the Year, has introduced AI Studio, a feature that enables users to create AI bandmates from a single instrument recording, revolutionizing music creation for musicians.

Launched in 2020, Moises quickly gained popularity among musicians for its AI-powered instrument isolation capabilities, allowing users to isolate individual instrument tracks from songs. This functionality enables users to focus on specific elements like vocals, guitar solos, or bass lines, as noted by the App Store editorial team. Following its success, Moises received a significant boost when it was recognized as Apple’s 2024 iPad App of the Year. A month later, the company announced a $40 million Series A investment round led by monashees and Connected Ventures, underscoring its growth and potential.

The new AI Studio feature expands upon Moises’ existing capabilities by generating individual instrumental parts, or stems, such as basslines or drum tracks, that automatically align with the user’s recording. According to the company, AI Studio acts as a “responsive bandmate,” interpreting the user’s music and following their creative cues. It can generate basslines, drum parts, or other instruments from a simple piano chord progression or guitar riff, blending naturally with the recording’s sound, timing, harmony, and style.

Moises emphasizes that its AI models are trained on high-quality individual instrument recordings, differentiating it from other platforms that train on complete songs. This “context-aware” approach to AI training and development provides musicians with more control over the creative process, allowing them to shape the details of their music. The company states that the new feature helps musicians “shape every detail of their music exactly as they envision.”

AI Studio is accessible to Free, Premium, and Pro users through the web and desktop app. Each plan comes with a different monthly allowance of generative credits, and users have the option to purchase additional credits as needed.
