Nintendo revealed that when Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases, it will have a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The new edition will offer an additional control option as well as quality and performance graphics modes.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Beyond will allow players to use the Joy-Con controller’s mouse functionality.
The quality mode offers gameplay at 4K and 60fps with HDR while docked and at 1080p and 60fps with HDR in handheld mode. Gamers choosing the performance mode can play at 1080p and 120fps with HDR while docked or 720p and 120fps with HDR in handheld mode.
A trailer shown at last week’s Nintendo Direct showcased the planet, Viewros, where the game is set. The trailer also highlighted Samus Aran’s new physic powers used to solve puzzles and combat enemies. The game is slated to launch sometime in 2025.
Originally revealed shortly after the release of the original Switch in 2017, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was rebooted in early 2019 with Retro Studios overseeing development. Gameplay footage was revealed last year.
Metroid Prime Remastered, released in 2023, offers fans a way to experience the original classic while waiting for Beyond.
