Meta updated its guidance for creators on maximizing earnings through its monetization tools on Facebook, emphasizing Reels as the key content format. The Content Monetization program, currently invite-only, allows anyone to express interest via the Professional Dashboard on the Facebook mobile app.

The program rewards original creators for content across various formats, including Reels, Stories, photos, and text posts. In 2025, Facebook paid out nearly $3 billion to creators, with 60% directed toward Reels content, signaling the platform’s focus on this format.

Meta encourages creators to experiment with diverse content types. While Reels are highlighted, creators should also trial Stories, photos, and text posts to see what resonates best with their audiences.

Creating original content is crucial, as Meta’s systems prioritize unique material that reflects each creator’s distinct perspective. The company cautions against using engagement bait, such as prompts like “watch until the end,” unless the content has a substantial payoff for viewers.

Meta advises tailoring content based on audience interaction and feedback. Creators should monitor performance metrics and comments to understand what works best. Additionally, to qualify for monetization, creators must focus on growing views and watch time, as only views that exceed five seconds and do not repeat count.

Creators should also consider how followers engage with their content through reactions, comments, and shares, using this data to inform strategic decisions. To enhance these efforts, Meta will introduce new metrics in the Professional Dashboard, displaying qualified views and earnings rates to assist creators in boosting their revenue.
