MediaTek’s new Kompanio Ultra 910 chipset aims to redefine Chromebook performance through AI enhancements, improved power efficiency, and high-speed connectivity. Designed for advanced computing, this processor promises better productivity, creative capabilities, and richer multimedia experiences for Chromebook users.
Fabricated using TSMC’s 2nd-gen 3nm process, the Kompanio Ultra 910 balances power efficiency with performance gains, giving Chromebooks potentially all-day battery life. It features an 8-core CPU setup: one Arm Cortex-X925 core (up to 3.62GHz), three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. The chip also incorporates 12MB of L3 cache and 10MB of system-level cache (SLC) for managing both single and multi-threaded tasks.
Visuals get a boost from the 11-core Immortalis-G925 MC11 GPU, complete with ray tracing capabilities for more realistic gaming and other graphics-intensive applications. Paired with LPDDR5X memory (8533Mbps), the CPU, GPU, and NPU can access data rapidly.
Benchmark tests reveal a Geekbench 6 single-core score of 2600 and a multi-core score of 8000.
The Kompanio Ultra 910’s 8th-generation NPU significantly improves on-device AI performance, managing up to 50 TOPS. According to MediaTek, the chip excels in ETHZ v6 AI benchmarks, particularly in generative AI tasks. Also, AI acceleration shifts workload from the CPU and GPU to enhance power efficiency.
Connectivity on the Kompanio Ultra 910 includes support for Wi-Fi 7 (speeds up to 7.3Gbps) and Bluetooth 6.0, featuring a dual Bluetooth engine for increased signal stability and range.
Multimedia capabilities include simultaneous support for up to three 4K displays—one integrated and two external. The processor supports 4K 10-bit video decoding and encoding across HEVC, AVC, VP9, and AV1 formats. Ultimately, integrated Hi-Fi Audio DSPs improve sound quality and enable low-power keyword detection perfect for voice-enabled applications.
