Lego has officially unveiled its Nintendo Game Boy set, a detailed recreation of the 1989 classic console, available for pre-order starting July 24, 2025, with an anticipated shipping date of October 1st.
The model, priced at $60 in the US, measures 3.5 inches (14cm) wide and 5.5 inches (9cm) tall, closely mirroring the dimensions of the original device. The set features meticulously designed elements, including pitch-perfect A and B buttons that appear to recess into the frame, and remarkably well-captured console curves.
A significant detail is the inclusion of printed tiles rather than sticker labels for replicating the Game Boy’s iconic labels, such as those for buttons, the volume dial, on-off switch, and the “Dot Matrix With Stereo Sound” highlight. Larger features like the mono speaker grille, battery compartment latch, and a serial number on the back (which contains an Easter egg) are also accurately rendered.
A standout feature of the Lego Game Boy is its ability to display actual scenes from classic games through swappable lenticular lenses. Users can insert a brick-built cartridge of either The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening or Super Mario Land. The lenticular lenses allow for different images to be seen from various angles, such as the classic Nintendo logo dropping as the screen is rotated, or a scene depicting Link and Marin from Link’s Awakening.
In a promotional effort, Lego and Nintendo have collaborated to recreate a segment of the original US Game Boy commercial using the new Lego set, which has been shared on Instagram.
