Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to being a global leader in 5G and AI at the Shanghai MWC2025 event, outlining a strategic vision for growth amidst geopolitical pressures.

In a keynote address, Deputy Chairman Eric Xu Zhijun identified four key areas to drive the next phase of the telecommunications industry. These areas include attracting new user groups, such as live-streamers and delivery workers, strengthening the high-definition video supply chain, enabling smart connected vehicles with 5G, and expanding Fibre-to-the-Room (FTTR) to digitalize small businesses. By focusing on these sectors, Huawei aims to propel the industry forward and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Xu’s vision for the industry’s future involves not only leveraging existing technologies but also innovating to meet the demands of new user groups and applications. Attracting live-streamers and delivery workers, for instance, could involve developing tailored solutions that enhance their professional activities. Similarly, strengthening the high-definition video supply chain would require improvements in both infrastructure and content delivery.
