Huawei is set to introduce a substantial artificial intelligence upgrade to its Pura 80 series smartphones in August, focusing on a remarkably enhanced version of its Celia AI assistant. This significant development was recently confirmed by a senior company official, promising a more intelligent and capable virtual assistant for the flagship devices.

Richard Yu, the esteemed Chairman of the Huawei Consumer Business Group, officially announced the forthcoming Celia AI upgrade for the Pura 80 series. During his announcement, Yu elaborated on how this revamped virtual assistant is designed to streamline and improve a multitude of daily operations for users, making interactions with their devices more intuitive and efficient than ever before. He expressed his enthusiasm for the new assistant, stating, “I would like to introduce my new assistant, Celia (Xiaoyi), to you all. She is very capable! She will be launched in the #HuaweiPura80# series in August.” This statement underscores Huawei’s confidence in Celia’s advanced capabilities and its strategic importance for the Pura 80 lineup.

Yu provided a live demonstration of the upgraded Celia AI, showcasing its ability to perform three distinct and relatively complex tasks swiftly and accurately, solely through voice commands. This demonstration highlighted Celia’s newfound prowess in handling multifaceted requests, drawing parallels to other advanced AI assistants in the market, such as Honor’s YOYO assistant, which is capable of voice-activated tasks like ordering coffee. The executive’s demonstration involved a series of practical scenarios designed to illustrate Celia’s enhanced functionality.

Firstly, Yu instructed Celia to assist him with booking a flight. He provided the AI assistant with specific details, including his destination – Beijing for a business trip – and the desired date and time for the flight. Celia promptly initiated the booking process, demonstrating its understanding of contextual information and its ability to interact with relevant services. This capability suggests a deep integration with travel platforms or an advanced internal processing system for travel logistics.

Secondly, Yu tasked Celia with purchasing a Huawei Pura 80 Pro+ for a friend. He specified the exact model, including the “Glaze Red” color option and the 1TB storage configuration, and instructed Celia to complete the purchase directly from the Huawei Mall. This showcased Celia’s capacity to navigate e-commerce platforms, understand product specifications, and handle transactional processes, indicating robust integration with Huawei’s online retail ecosystem.

Finally, the third command given to Celia was to download a movie series from Huawei Video. This task demonstrated Celia’s ability to interact with digital content platforms, identify specific media, and initiate downloads. The assistant’s immediate response to this command underscored its versatility in managing entertainment-related requests.
