Huawei is restructuring its Cloud Computing Unit to prioritize and accelerate AI growth in China, a strategic shift aimed at strengthening the company’s focus on its most critical business aspect.
Zhang Pingan, CEO of Huawei Cloud Unit, announced the restructuring, which involves incorporating key departments and creating six new divisions focusing on computing, storage, database, and cybersecurity.
The restructuring aims to “continue to create more advanced and valuable cloud services for customers through software and hardware collaboration and architectural innovation,” according to the Huawei Cloud Business Unit. This move is expected to lead to increased investment in AI resources and computing industries.
Huawei’s goal is to improve its Cloud Computing Unit to counter US restrictions, contributing to profitability after a decline in 2024. The company also aims to advance its chipsets and foster an improved AI infrastructure within China.
While specific details regarding other changes and underlying motives remain undisclosed, Huawei’s commitment to advancing its position in the Chinese AI industry is evident through its technological solutions and strategic investments.
