Huawei has surpassed Apple to become the world’s leading smartwatch vendor in Q2 2025, a milestone achieved through significant growth in China and strategic expansion into other regions.

According to Counterpoint’s latest analysis, Huawei’s smartwatch sales experienced a 52% year-on-year growth, the highest among the top 10 global brands. This surge propelled Huawei to the top spot, with a 21% global smartwatch shipment share. Anshika Jain, Senior Research Analyst at Counterpoint, attributed Huawei’s success to its diverse product portfolio, robust domestic momentum, and competitive pricing across the mid-to-premium tiers, stating, “Driven by its diverse product portfolio, robust domestic momentum, and competitive pricing across mid-to-premium tiers, Huawei overtook Apple to claim the top spot in global shipment leadership for the first time.”

The majority of Huawei’s wearable shipments are concentrated in China, particularly within the $100 to $400 price range. The company is now focusing on expanding its presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (MEA), and the Asia Pacific region to broaden its global user base. Innovative watches and advanced software capabilities have been key factors in the company’s record-high wearable shipment share in the second quarter.

Apple ranked second with a 17% sales share, despite experiencing a 3% decline. The company continues to lead the “advanced smartwatch segment” due to the strength of its iOS ecosystem, but was unable to maintain its top position. Xiaomi secured the third spot, achieving a 38% year-on-year shipment growth. Imoo also saw substantial growth, driven by the popularity of its kids’ wearables.

Samsung ranked fifth, with a 3% year-on-year drop in shipments. However, the company is expected to make a comeback in the third quarter of this year.
