Huawei’s Mate 80 series launch has been rescheduled to mid-to-late November, according to leaker FixedFocus, following earlier rumors of a late October or early November debut.

The delay is attributed to certain optimizations being made to the flagship devices, with the tipster suggesting the push to November could be related to the implementation of a cooling fan or a new “chip-packaging” process for the forthcoming Kirin 9030 processor.

Along with the revised launch window, the report indicates the lineup may expand from four to five models, with the fifth device potentially being a rumored Mate 80 Air.

Huawei had been working to accelerate its smartphone development, with earlier reports suggesting the Mate 80 series might launch in October, breaking from the previous year’s schedule. However, the integration of new technologies appears to have adjusted the timeline.

The company is also reportedly integrating “dynamic capabilities” into its 2025 Mate models, indicating a continued focus on innovation and advancement.

For historical context, Huawei released the Mate 60 Pro with a 5G chipset in September of the previous year after a five-year period of challenges.

The Mate 70 series was anticipated to follow a similar launch timeline, but its release was affected by the time required for HarmonyOS NEXT adaptation.

In addition to the processor and cooling system, the Mate 80 series is expected to feature imaging upgrades, with Huawei reportedly testing new camera sensors for its upcoming devices to enhance photographic performance.

In a separate update, the tipster noted that the Nova 15 series is not expected to launch until December of this year.
