How to Log Out of YouTube on Devices

Logging out of your YouTube account is a simple process that can be completed in a few steps, depending on the device you’re using, to maintain your privacy and security.

There are four simple ways to log out of YouTube, depending on whether you’re using a computer, Android device, iPhone, or iPad, or if you need to log out remotely.

Using a computer is one of the most straightforward methods. To log out, users need to click their profile picture in the top-right corner of the page. In the drop-down menu that appears, they should click “Sign out,” which is located near the top of the menu, under their YouTube handle.

For Android users, the process is also relatively simple. They need to tap their profile picture at the bottom-right corner of the app, and then tap “Sign out” in the menu that opens. It’s worth noting that this action will also sign them out of all other apps that share their Google account, such as Gmail or Google Maps.

iPhone and iPad users follow a slightly different process. They need to tap their profile picture at the bottom-right corner of the screen, then tap “Switch account” in the pop-up menu. After that, they should tap “Sign out” (or “Remove from this device”) under their account email.

If you’re unable to access the device you’re signed into YouTube on, or if you want to ensure your account is secure on a shared device, you can log out remotely. To do this, go to Google’s device activity page in any web browser, sign in with the Google account you’re using on YouTube, select the device you want to log out from on the device list, and click “Sign out.” This will log the device out of your YouTube and Google account.

As a pro tip, if you share your device with others, logging out remotely is a secure way to protect your account without needing physical access to the device.

Logging out of YouTube is important for maintaining your privacy, especially on shared or public devices. By doing so, you prevent others from accessing your watch history, subscriptions, or personalized recommendations without your permission. This simple action reduces the risk of unauthorized account use, which could lead to unwanted changes or exposure of your data.

Beyond security, regularly signing out encourages better digital habits, such as periodically reviewing the devices connected to your account. It also ensures that your YouTube experience remains tailored to you when you sign back in, keeping your recommendations fresh and relevant.
