Honor skips number Magic V4 to release V5

Forget the Magic V4: Honor might be skipping straight to the Magic V5 for its next foldable, thanks to good old tetraphobia. This rumor comes from China, suggesting Honor is worried the number “4” will scare off potential buyers.

Instead of the expected Magic V4, Honor is reportedly jumping to the Magic V5 to avoid associations with bad luck. This isn’t new; many Chinese companies avoid the number four in product names. According to Li Kun, Product Manager of Honor Devices, the Magic V5 is slated for release in late May or early June.

The Magic V5 is rumored to feature a super-thin design. It’s still unconfirmed whether it will become the thinnest foldable, potentially taking the crown currently held by the Oppo Find N5, another device that skipped the “4”.
