Honor Mocks Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Battery Decision

Honor Mocks Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Battery Decision

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor has publicly ridiculed Samsung’s design philosophy for its latest Galaxy Z foldable phone, specifically regarding battery capacity, following Samsung’s explanation for the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s unchanged battery.

Samsung justified the Fold 7’s battery compromise by stating that users demanded a larger battery for the flip model, and that the Fold 7 prioritized a thinner design, improved cameras, and a larger cover screen. Honor seized on this, posting a taunt on social media, asserting that “Ultra-thin doesn’t mean sacrificing accessories, battery capacity, and durability, right Sam?”

Honor positioned its Magic V5 foldable as a superior alternative, claiming it achieves a thin design without compromising essential features. The Magic V5 boasts a substantial 5820mAh battery, supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Unlike Samsung’s latest foldable, the Magic V5 also includes a “Magic Pen” stylus. Furthermore, Honor highlighted the Magic V5’s durability, showcasing its hinge’s ability to withstand significant weight without damage, directly contrasting Samsung’s perceived “battery sacrifice” for a slimmer profile.
