Google Tests New “Projects” Feature for Gemini AI

Google is testing a new “Projects” feature for its Gemini AI, allowing users to upload files and documents for the AI to reference in project conversations, similar to OpenAI’s Project Feature for ChatGPT.

The “Projects” feature is described by Google as a way to “start by adding files to the project. Gemini can reference these files in project conversations and use them to generate new documents and code.” This functionality aims to facilitate the grouping of similar tasks, effectively creating a dedicated workspace within Gemini. By enabling users to upload files, documents, or code, Gemini can utilize these materials to enhance its responses and outputs within the context of the project.

The rollout timeline for “Projects” remains uncertain, with a potential initial limitation to enterprise customers. This cautious approach may allow Google to assess the feature’s performance and gather feedback from a controlled user base before wider release. Concurrently, Google is developing Gemini 3, anticipated to be its most powerful AI model to date, indicating ongoing investment in AI capabilities.

In a separate but related development, Google recently unveiled Genie 3, developed by Google DeepMind, the same team behind Gemini. Genie 3 is designed to transform text prompts into interactive, playable virtual worlds that users can navigate in real-time. This includes the ability to simulate a human walking within the generated world. Google states that Genie 3 renders these worlds at 720p and 24 frames per second, maintaining physical consistency for several minutes. The introduction of Genie 3 highlights Google’s expanding efforts in AI-driven content generation and simulation.
