Google Photos is testing a new video editor with advanced text-adding capabilities, resembling features available on Instagram, as discovered in version 7.49 of the Android app.
The new video editor offers users granular control over text attributes, including font style, color, and alignment, marking a significant improvement over the current text-adding option. The existing tool is limited to a single, non-changeable font type and lacks text alignment options.
The test version features a range of fonts similar to those on Instagram’s Reels and Stories, with subtle design differences and unique names. The updated text editor also expands color choices, presenting dozens of options, including subtle shifts between shades. However, a color blotter tool and automatic color suggestions are not yet available.
The new editor also introduces a highlight effect to the text, serving as a background element. These features are still in the early trial phase and have not been widely released to the public. Google has not announced a timeline for rolling out these enhancements to a broader user base.
