Google Makes Gemini Live Screen Sharing Free

Google is making the Gemini Live screen sharing feature free for all Android users, reversing its initial plan to restrict it to Gemini Advanced subscribers.

Gemini Live, an AI-powered feature, allows the AI to analyze and respond to content from a user’s phone camera and screen. It was initially launched earlier in April 2025, exclusively for Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 users through the Gemini app. At the time, Google indicated that while the feature would be available to all Android users “soon,” it would be restricted to those with a Gemini Advanced subscription.

However, following positive feedback, Google has decided to make the camera and screen share capabilities of Gemini Live available for free to all Android users with the Gemini app. “We’ve been hearing great feedback on Gemini Live with camera and screen share, so we decided to bring it to more people,” Google stated on X. The rollout of this free feature to all Android users is set to begin immediately and will continue over the coming weeks.

The functionality of Gemini Live can be seen in a video provided by Google, where a person uses their phone’s camera at an aquarium, and Gemini Live identifies the animals and shares information about them. This example illustrates the feature’s capability to analyze visual content in real-time and provide relevant information.

This move by Google comes as Microsoft also announced the availability of its similar AI tool, Copilot Vision, for free in the Edge browser. Copilot Vision offers comparable functionality, highlighting the competitive landscape in the development of AI-powered tools for user interaction and information analysis.
